"If you have total freedom, then you are in trouble. It's much better when you have some obligation, some discipline, some rules. When you have no rules, then you start to build your own rules." _ Renzo Piano
The purpose of Design Standards is to provide information and guidelines to architects and designers designing facilities for the design procedure. These guidelines are offered to avoid problems which historically have occurred in designing, publishing and production.
Design Standards are an important part of our design firm, serving as rules to measure or judge capacity, quantity, content, extent, value and quality. These standards, above all others, which must be addressed before any design procedure can be started.
The intent of these standards is not to limit the designer in selecting materials and is not to replace professional design analysis. These portions of the design standards have been developed through experience, and are included for specifying exact requirements which must be met.
The Design Standards to be served as a guide and to establish consistency in design.
